Viejas guerreras means ancient warriors, this group is led by Lourdes who is a very enterprising lady and she has recently built a small restaurant /studio/hostel building using natural Borucan methods using a plant called 'cana blanca' and palm leaves for the roof.
So Cagru is a fairly new group of 11 artisans who make very beautiful intricate cedar and balsa wood masks, weaved bags, table runners and traditional skirts. They also make other artisan products such as: maracas from coconuts, drums from coconuts with cow hide skin and jewelry from local seeds and bows and arrows. They hope by pooling their efforts that they can get more business than they would otherwise be able to do.
Lourdes has all sorts of outside experience since she had lived outside of Boruca for a long time and came back just a few years ago, so she has some business acumen and outside skills and knowledge to help her and her team.
She has done courses in recycling and they successfully recycle at her home and her little restaurant. They have also done some studies in hydroponic growing methods and intend to implement those in gardens for the restaurant in the future.
So Cagru conduct tours that include looking at the processes of their artisan works and also they can show you some medicinal plants and the uses for them. They can also provide meals and rustic traditional accommodation if you choose to stay overnight.

Lourdes dirige un grupo de mujeres artesanas llamado "So? Cagru?" nombre que está escrito en el Idioma Indígena Brunca, y hace alusión al significado en español de "Viejas Guerreras", lo cual representa ancestros guerreros que lucharon contra los invasores Españoles.
Lourdes es una señora muy emprendedora, y ella ha construido recientemente un pequeño restaurante, estudio, y sitio de hospedaje para los visitantes. Las construcciones aquí son edificadas utilizando métodos ancestrales Bruncas, con materiales que obtenemos de la naturaleza, tales como; troncos de madera para las bases y soporte de la edificación, además una planta que se llama "Caña Brava" que se utiliza en las paredes, el techo es de palmas de la "Palma Real.
